Janis Joplin Day

In celebration of the life and sprit of Janis Joplin,
The City of San Francisco has officially declared
July 7th Janis Joplin Day!

     

     There will be a special proclamation ceremony in the Paris Ballroom at the Hotel Monaco San Francisco. The ceremony will be at 12:30 PM followed by a reception for the opening of the artwork of Janis Joplin exhibit.

     The exhibit includes estate signed limited editions of Janis’ art that will be available for sale to the public at the exhibit; there will also be a museum display on loan from the estate containing some of Janis’ most personal memorabilia.

Exhibit will be open:

  • Friday, July 7th         12:00 to 9:00 PM
  • Saturday, July 8th     12:00 to 9:00 PM
    On Saturday from 12:30 to 3:30 PM Laura Joplin will be at the exhibit doing a special book signing for Love, Janis in coordination with the opening of the play at the Marines Memorial Theatre. The play is based on her book
  • Sunday, July 9th        12:00 – 6:00 PM

Come and check out this exhibit, it will blow you away      

     We are asking everyone in the City to participate by playing and singing Janis’ music all day. There is no other Icon from the 60’s that is more San Francisco than Janis Joplin.
